Hello Gentlemen,

I'm wondering whether Android can be booted from SDCard on an UNrooted mobile phone ?

I would like to try to load android or a custom recovery such as CyanogenMod etc. After booting it from the SD I will try to reach the system files of android (gesture.key/password.key files) in order to bypass the pattern/pin lock.

Anyone tried before ? What may be the result? May the phone get damaged ?

Any comments ?

You mean something *like* these?

My guess is that these methods/approaches are
1) hardware specific
2) NOT working on a "locked" phone (by password or gestures)

Yes, I mean exactly like the links you've posted.

The hardware specific issue makes me wonder actually. By the way I don't need to make it work anything special like wi-fi or sound.

I don't think it won't work with gesture locked phones. I suppose that in theory it's similar like booting windows with a liveCD like Hiren's bootCd.

I have a spare phone to make tests on this issue but I don't want to brick it in the first step D

Yep ) , BUT with internal hard disk set as first boot device in BIOS AND access to BIOS password protected. roll

I see now,

I saw the requirements that It needs a custom recovery module, I missed that part before. In order to install the custom recovery the phone needs to be rooted.
