If this is the case, you can only brute-force (or use dictionary attacks, of course). Note that these crypto-containers are designed specifically to withstand these types of attacks, so good luck with that. (Also you may get lucky, and the suspect used a short, weak password).
Have you tried to ask for the password/key?

I always tend to work it out myself before asking for the password/key, because it rather takes a long time waiting for the response. But i've already requested it and yet i'm still waiting for it!
