Was just wondering if anyone has had these sent to them before and if they have ever retrieved anything from them ?
The BT Home Hub runs on Linux - there are a few sites out there describing how you can gain access, but to the best of my knowedge there is no traditionally "forensicaly sound" method, and you'd have to perform a "live" aquisiton. The only method I believe will involve using the remote troubleshooting and ssh-ing into the device - would be quite entertaining on a restricted network I should think -) Default IP is 192.168.1.254 with a 255.255.255.0 netmask.
The HomeHub does retain details of the devices that are connected to it - Mac addresses and DHCP details, it also retains some details about the connections - data transfered etc. As well as mappings for the firewall - e.g. application maps - BitTorrent, Games etc.
I had gained remote admin access to my old one for linux admin, but I have a new one from BT now ( a bit smaller and neater … ) and I've not hacked it yet …
possibly a daft question but……..do the hubs actually have a form of storage media inside of the case?
Not a dumb question at all ! I'd not considered it and made the assumption that it was all "on board" …
I've had a look though and this

indicates that it is on board, it is a 48 pin 8Mb flash chip. The details of it are linked on the above page to

Hope these might help …
