Hi There,
Can any one share there experience on building a forensic workstation for evidence aquisition and analysis.
I have been looking at the workstations/devices from digital intelligence and want a device that can be used not just within the office premises but also in remote locations where the company network is not available. Has anyone used the VPER KIT? or any other laptop kind of forensic workstation?
Xaya!
Away from office via driving? or Away from office via plane?
Towers with wheels are always the best way to go. Look at server towers, lots of extra bays and expandable in the future, when you're ready to DRIVE somewhere you just wheel it out to the backseat and take off.
Generally speaking you would want 2's of everything on the machine (- graphics card, MB, etc.)
2 Floppy drive bay's
2 CD drives And/Or
2 DVD drives
2 multicard reader
The costs for these things are small and the convenience pays off when you need to copy things quickly or compare 2 sets of data on the same media.
Thanks armresl,
The requirement is to be able to conduct forensic investigation in different countries, so it would be by air most of the times. That's why I'm looking for having a laptop. I'm interested to know if someone has used to FRED-L or the VPER Kit? It seems to match my requirements, but I wanted to know the feedback from someone who has already used it?
Cheers!
Xaya
