I wasn't either able to find any information in Guidance website!! They just have a banner saying "coming soon", but no detailed info at all. What a pity.

Well, right on the main page, it says, "support for 64 bit processing, Unicode indexing, and support for over 400 file types." Looking around the site, to inlcude press releases and forums, I don't see much else…which tells me that there isn't much else.

Scheduled for release next month, EnCase Forensic v6 builds on the success of Version 5 by further enhancing performance, analysis and productivity features such as

New x64 bit version

Provides improved performance, enhanced multi-threading and almost unlimited scalability to tackle the largest datasets facing examiners.

Enhanced search capabilities with native Unicode Indexer

The new Guidance Software Indexer builds a complete index of English and Foreign language text with a new patent-pending technology that permits fast and easy query for keywords. The indices can be quickly chained together to overcome challenges of traditional indexing technologies.

Native viewing for over 400 file formats

Native document viewing allows examiners to see files within EnCase as if they were in their native applications. You can print, bookmark and copy/paste from the new document view. In addition, this functionality significantly reduces the number of false positives during searches and use of third-party viewers.

Enhanced email

With the broadest email support in the industry, we have now added the ability to analyze Exchange EDB files, Notes Domino server NSF files, and native support for Notes 5, 6 and 7 NSF files.

Earn, where did you take that info from?Seems very interesting. If the indexing capabilities you talk about are such, EnCase would be almost as efficient in searching tasks as FTK.

Do you know if the searchs inside the email will be enhanced? I say this because with the current version it is quite difficult to be precise in the searching/exporting when it concerns email.

My sales Rep sent me the info in an email about a week or two ago. I do not have any more details except that Guidance has their own indexing engine while FTK uses DTsearch. Encase should be faster then FTK for indexing and keyword searching.

Why? Any statistics, any knowledge about the new engine or something? I say this because the older EnCase engine wasn't exactly a piece of art lol , while everytime I've used dtSearch the results have been quite amazing.
