Hello everybody, i'm actually dealing with a (supposed to be) storage media looking really similar to a normal SD, wich i can't acquire in any way.

i tried to put this SD into an sd mmc card reader and the result is always "media not found".
even whit dd on linux i can't image it couse it says the media is not present.

i know that the device is working for sure, so the idea of it beeing damaged is impossible.

the sd btw has a strange pinout, couse it's missing the 8th and 9th pin.

anybody know if there is a way to verify what this SD actually is? maybe it's not just an sd storage device and it has some sort of sdIO features wich controls the storange inside.
i know some data is stored in and i really need to access such data.

has anybody even heard of such a thing?
wich approach should i adopt? consider that i can't use invasive methods on the hardware, couse i have to preserve it.

really thanks in advice.

EDIT
here i provide a pic of the sd, just sto you can see what i mean by pin cut.

done.

byt looking at the pinouts here
http//pinouts.ru/Memory/sdcard_pinout.shtml
an idea that it may be using the SPI mode only came across my mind since that's a schema where pin 8 and pin 9 are unused.
but shouldn't a normal SD card reader be able to access sd cards in SPI mode?
do i need specific hardware?
i have a tableau sd mmc reader here.

heh, i don't have an high resolution camera here to take a detailed pic,
if you need to know what's written on the card i'm telling you in mins (serials or codes or such imprinted on the cover)

it's supposed to be from a sort of media players.

Just had a thought could you be inserting it upside down in the card reader ?….. i know it sounds daft but i have seen it done in the past before … very easy mistake to do

http//www.chipcatalog.com/Datasheet/BC6DC20FC60BAC7595E5D0419DB6126E.htm

SPI is available

If the device that it was used for has a usb input u may be able to access the card through that.

i only had a chance to take a look at the device, it's a black box and doesn't have any USB interface or anything that can remind to a way to interface such device with a PC.
