Greetings,
I'm looking for a forensic case management tool suitable for use in my own lab but also for corporate clients who have multiple people requesting services and multiple examiners providing services ranging from forensics to ediscovery to investigations.
Some desirable characteristics are
1) Security
2) Cross platform
3) Off line capability - I'd like to be able to enter information on an isolated examination system and easily import it into the case management tool later.
4) Ease of use
5) Reliable
6) etc etc etc.
I've found posts on this topic stretching back to 2005. Unfortunately, there aren't any really definitive answers. I'm going to evaluate DFLabs D.I.M. tool over the next few days but that's about all I've found so far.
I suspect I could roll my own using RTTracker but then I'll end up with a one off, self supported tool and I'd really like to avoid that.

I have been looking for the same over the past few weeks and following a thread on another forum about case management software.
Currently I am picking through
CaseNotes
Digital Investigation Management (D.I.M) - I really like DIM and it seems to be very thorough The cost is the reason we are hesitant to to fully adopt right now as evaluate other options.
Investigation Notebook - Based on MS OneNote and created by Paul Bobby. (PM me for the files).
If anyone has other suggestions it would be great to know what else is out there.
Thank you for mentioning the Onenote notebook.
You can find a link to the notebook at my blog http//secureartisan.wordpress.com
I don't know whether it is what you are looking for but try this link

I should tell you that I work for IntaForensics.
E mail the address on the web page for further information about release dates etc.

If you are looking for a full-blown, corporate solution and have the budget to spare, (as you may want to grant customers access to track certain cases) … you may want to consider
1. http//
2. http//
There was also a solution that used MS SharePoint/Exchange as the backend and workflow system, but I can’t find the info on it right now.
Usually, I have created my workflows in InfoPath & then link that into MS Exchange as the backend and workflow system. The oracle solution is used in one lab that I work with and could be better for the price paid.
i2 (Analyst Notebook et al) solutions although very pricey have various options that allow for case management and also relationship analysis, etc. Make sure you enroll on the 2 week training if planning to go down this route.
Regards,
Greetings,
Any updates on this thread? Has anyone really put Lima to the test? I couldn't evaluate it because the licensing wouldn't run under a VM at the time.
Any more experience with DIM?
Any other options? I'm really hoping to find something that is fairly lightweight but will scale, and that doesn't require a huge investment in infrastructure. Sharepoint/Exchange qualifies as "huge" at the moment.

Greetings,
Please disregard this. Someone else just asked a similar question moments ago and the answers were quite informative.

Does any of these solutions also provide the depository capabilities for large amounts of data, and hundreds of cases?
Can you please clarify what you were looking for and what the other thread provided you?
From the title I read it as a Case Management/Incident Response lifecycle tool, but from the other thread's content and others here, it sounds like what you were looking for is more of a Digital Evidence Management or Evidence Control system/frontend to a database in addition to a place to consolidate case work and notes?
Sorry if that was confusing.
Greetings,
The thread I found helpful was http//www.forensicfocus.com/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=5168
It referenced some other threads, including a review of D.I.M.
I'm looking for a tool that will help me manage digital evidence and keep track of case notes. I really don't feel like rolling my own and then needing to maintain it.
