Greetings,
I prepared by reading other books on forensics, reading papers, reading forums, and other research.
If you look through this site, you'll find lots of recommendations for books, papers, and podcasts. Focus on the fundamentals - how to manage a case, chain of custody, file system layout, types of artifacts and how to find them, open source and free tools, etc. While the books may not be free, there is an enormous number of free papers and publications that can be immensely useful. Check out the various NIJ publications, for example.
There are also references to disk images that you can download and analyze. Try some of those and learn to use the tools you have available.

Thanks David for your suggestion!!
You should go online and take the practice test. It will give you a feel for what to expect from the written part of the test.
hello - I have already taken the online exam. The exam seems very straight forward. Now I am guessing that the actual exam will be much more technical than the online one. Whats your thought on that?
Thanks in advance

Therein lies a problem. Those who know, can't say. NDA, etc.
An alternate suggestion. Know the field, love the field, study the field. Don't sweat what's on the exam.
