Hello Folks-

I am currently attempting to extract the phone data from an LG GR 501-Xenon using the Cellebrite UFED.

I am unable to get the calls, phone book, pics and or videos using this device. Cellebrite suggests a specific cable for the model of this extraction, however, the UFED device does not render the same model in its source model bank. I double checked my software versions (full and tiny) and verified I was running the latest version.

I was able to successfully extract the SIM data from the SIM card, however that did not entitle me to the criteria above.

Any of you cellebriters know of a UFED model that will work with the LG GR 501 Xenon? I have tried a few of the LG Phone Models with same cable, but no luck thus far. Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Bryce D.

The newest UFED version STANDARD (not PRO) reads only Phonebook and IMEI from LG GR-501 Xenon. The version PRO reads nothing else, unfortunately. For this model is cable nr 100

Thanks for the help folks. I am running 1131 now and still stumbling into a lot of grief with the LG's and Cellebrite. I tried hooking into BITPIM as well, however BITPIM seems to choke on the port finding process for the LG.

You guys have any suggestions, I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Bryce D.

Look at the above link. have you been using cable 100 for the content and bluetooth for phonebook?

If cellebrite still does not work why not try connecting to the handset directly to your workstation either by hyperterminal or putty using either the cable or bluetooth (serial port service). You should be able to get phonebook, sms, call registers using AT commands. For multimedia use blueftp - not exactly forensic though

In re to bitpim and this phone- Generally speaking, bitpim is for CDMA phones, which since you indicated you have a SIM, your phone is probably GSM. However, bitpim has been known to be able to view the filesystem of some LG GSM phones. Research your phone and try to find out if there is a CDMA version of it out there. If you find one, then when you run bitpim, manually select that model number in bitpim as your phone. You can also try setting the phone model to "LG VX8700" which has worked for some other LG GSM phones.

Make sure you activate the filesystem view in Bitpim, as this is the only way you will view information, it will not parse out the items. You can then backup the filesystem into a zip file which you can load into FTK or Encase and parse out.

Also, try turning off the auto detect port function in bitpim. It works faster to just select the port manually in the "edit settings" area. Same thing in regards to auto detecting the phone.

Hope this helps.
Joe
