anyone having success using an external hard drive connected to the Cellebrite UFED to get the collected phone data? I've formatted the hard drive as NTFS and Fat and have had no luck.

thanks in advance

The Cellebrite UFED typically exports its data to a thumbdrive, even though it has other capabilities. I would format the external HDD with FAT32 (same format used on most, if not all, thumbdrivs) and see if that works.

You might need a dual USB Y cable for the HDD power.
This is sometimes needed when used with PC's too

I had the same problem with a 64 GB thumbdrive. Cellebrite didn't like NTFS. Worked after formatting to FAT32.

I have had luck with a Western Digital 120GB Passport drive (one single USB cable, non-Y style) and a Kingston Datatraveler 150 64GB flash drive when formatted FAT32.

I hope this helps.
