Certified Ethical Hacker
Has anyone else taken this course and if so, what can I expect to gain from this certification?
Does this cert apply to digital forensics or malware analysis, CSIRT and cyber-warfare?
Any and all input is greatly appreciated.

I took a course and did the certification last year. It doesn't apply directly to forensics or malware analysis, but I took the course to gain a better understanding of the attacker mindset, which can in turn assist with both those areas. It really is about offense, and not defense, but I didn't see this as a failing - just something to be aware of. It depends on what you're hoping to get from the course.
There is another EC Council cert - CHFI (Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator) which might be more up your alley if you wanted a course with more of the forensic angle.
Thank you - This is exactly what I was looking for. I am looking to expand my ability to cyber warfare.
I will now look into both courses, CEH and CHFI.

Hey Rob,
I am a Certified Computer Examiner as well as a Certified Hacking Forensic Investigator. I went through SEC in Washington DC and would recommend it. The hours were intense, it was a 8am to 10pm course with a 2 to 3 hour test time. What I liked about it was the hands on experience throughout this course. Best of luck.
EC Council Certified Ethical Hacker certification is an absolute joke. I just wasted $3000 of the government’s money and one week of my time taking the Secure Ninja CEH "boot camp" Alexandria, Virginia.
We only did two 10 minute labs. No demo's by instructor nor did we even use the computer for anything. He even said to not bring in the lab and course book to class. All we did everyday was the test engine questions on the projector and several 2 hour, 150 question "test exams" while instructor surfed the net and conducted personal business. All he emphasized was to memorize questions!
Sure its a 90% pass rate because you only do questions and they are easy to memorize….you do not know anything more at the end of the week than when you came in….oh, but you are "certified"…what a joke!
As a government hiring manager, this cert will do nothing for the applicant. I will ensure to give the applicant scenario tests…of which they will never pass unless they have lots of experience.
Don’t waste your time on the cert….learn it on you own or get another cert!
I can only agree with GovISSM. The material is old and not well prepared.
With a bit of experience you can easily do the exam without preparation.
I would strongly recommend to look into the SANS courses. They are outstanding.
Can only agree with the last 2 comments. CEH is a very poor course a large book with old working "hacking" tools that's not the hackers mindset.
Like evee said get a SANS course, quality guaranteed I'm sure you get a tough week
In my opinion, SANS/GIAC certifications are onerous to maintain.
