Compression utilities

Hello all,

I have a little question. When you are examining a removable type of media like a floppy, CD or a CDR and the folders are compressed. You can open the folders and see what is inside but they are password protected. Then you run a password protection program on the file in the compressed folder and it is not supported. My question is this , Is there a tool or utility to get around this compression problem?
