I am currently building a forensic department from scratch and need to have some best practice guidelines for reference in my policy and procedures documentation. My main focus is incident response and e-discovery but any document will suffice. Thanks!

hunter,

There are loads of links out there, but the following is a good one I just uncovered.

http//www.forensics.nl/links

Scroll down to "Building a Low Cost Forensics Workstation" and start there. It is a paper published by SANS and has a lot of information applicable to your situation.

Thanks for the link. I have been searching for a while now and I have also found a couple from NIST.

Thanks again.

hunterw,

I finished my research dissertation a few months ago on e-evidence collection, so I have a few official guidelines on it.

Let me if you want the list.
