I have a Synology NAS running AD, I can add workstations, deploy group policies, etc. so I know the AD part is working.

When I try and add a QNAP NAS to the AD, it will not add and returns pre-authentication errors (kinit(v5)).

I have made sure the DNS is running on the AD server and the clock is within seconds of each other, the AD server also runs a NTP server too.

I have logged a call with QNAP and Synology but was wondering if anyone else had experienced that similar situation.

I have trawled the internet for solutions and tried many things but with little success unfortunately.

I have successfully attached a smaller Synology NAS to the main AD NAS and that worked fine and allowed me to set domain user permissions on shared folders, etc. so, as I said before, I am fairly confident it is set up right.

After an update by Synology at the end of January 2018, both QNAPs add to the Synology NAS running AD with no problems at all.

I can see the Domain Users on both QNAPs and can authenticate across the AD.
