Why don't you try a private message? I've not kept up with this post, but if you truly believe that you are deserving of an apology, do you really believe that you're going to get one?
At some point, and I hope it's sooner than later, you and Armresl may need to agree to disagree? Just a thought.

I wish that would happen. but since i was bashed publicly don;t you think he make a formal apology in front of everyone.

I bet he won't even post on here.

I'm sure you guys know the repercussions of what could have happened if I was reported to the police. Even though I would have come through squeaky clean it would have ruined my life. Even being suspected of it would have gotten my name in the papers, on tv, on this forum. My life as I know it would be ruined even though I would have been found innocent.

This thread and the other bothered me and still does. I will always remember it and what was said about me.

I sent Armresl 3 messages (I still have all three of them) and he didn't have the decency as a man to PM me back. I did take it to PM's at first (January) but never got a response so I doubt I will get one anytime soon.

I think Jamie was the only that understood my situation and has acted professional in this whole thing.

I'm so happy I am going to go out for ice cream with my family to celebrate.

So it's a fact that I an intern was correct and this forum as professional as I thought it was became clear that it's nothing more than keyboard bullies that really don't know the law but make it seem like they do.

You were right and us bullies were wrong? I don't see where you are "right" about anything regarding this. If you or your boss posses CP outside of a government facility, you posses it illegally. Yes that is a period after "illegally".

So I am glad that someone on this site was told and funny how they quickly reversed and said "oh we were just trying to help Josh out" AHHHH instead you tried to ruin my life.

No one tried to "ruin" your life. Did anyone make any phone calls to our friends in law-enforcement to kick in you or your bosses door?

Everyone that said something nasty towards me was wrong also.

You were the one that was nasty to begin with in the original thread. Remember, "I will try and show some restraint…"

You still haven't answered the simple question on this forum. How did you or your boss possess the CP legally? Explain it to us p l e a s e.

Redenbacher has microwaveable pop-up bowls now…

I don't have a dog in this hunt, but please don't continue to beat this dead horse. Back when this post was active I always wished it would die a quick death, but it was like Jason. It just couldn't be killed. Why don't you go ask your Boss what he was told. If everything you said was true you shouldn't have a problem.

Wins the award for the use of the most idiom's in one post -)

Mike,

I've been around online forums enough that I understand the tone/sarcasm. So me saying "let me show some restraint" was a bit of frustration on my part. In fact I was trying to show my boss that even though I'm an intern I can find the answers with the available resources. But nowhere out of line. What was out of line was the things said to me.

Instead of answering my initial question I got questioned about why am I looking at CP when I'm an intern or who would let and intern do such things. All I really wanted was an answer to my original question.

I agree with you that it is illegal but in this circumstance PenrodEllis was given permission by the courts for the defense. Say what you want, try and point a finger at me. But fact is fact. The company I work for was doing the work legally and since there are no rules (laws) about interns looking at CP while being supervised by a trained, certified Computer Forensics analyst as it pertains to the case.

Fact is fact Mike. I don't know what was told this person that called my boss but I have a feeling I know who it is. I just hope they will chime in here. But I did answer the question numerous times. He had a court order. Actually isn't this the name of this thread. If it's not something you've seen then…oh well. Deal with it. Come to the defense of your "online friends" Mike, that's cool, it shows respect for them. I admire that. But at the end of the day what I did, what I asked, was all correct, maybe I wasn't able to explain it in the way that you all wanted me to or give you hard evidence but I provided you the means, but you all failed to jump on it.

It's the accusations that got me steamed. Sure ya the cops didn't come knocking on my door. But even being accused of something online can have serious repercussions, don' you think? So I was right to say that it could have ruined my life. How many times have you seen something posted online such as a fight or person exceeding the speed limit only to be found and arrested?

Since my boss is a member now maybe he will chime in a few days.

The tone of this thread and the previous is what has caused the hurt feelings here. I have written things in reaction to the way I perceived your "tone" and so have others. Talking about differences in "generational respect levels" and pointing out spelling errors is inappropriate. I apologize to all for my part in this.

That being said, I still don't think this issue has been resolved. I think it should continue to be discussed, only with a new and professional approach

So me saying "let me show some restraint" was a bit of frustration on my part.

Apparently, I read-into your words a bit too much.

What was out of line was the things said to me. Instead of answering my initial question I got questioned about why am I looking at CP when I'm an intern or who would let and intern do such things. All I really wanted was an answer to my original question.

I don't think that it was "out of line" for someone to raise the issue when they read your original post. If the content of a post indicates that the poster is doing something technically wrong (not using a write-blocker), methodically wrong (not conducting a signature analysis), or legally wrong (possessing CP outside of a government facility) then it is appropriate (not "out of line") for members of the community to point it out and discuss it.

I agree with you that it is illegal but in this circumstance PenrodEllis was given permission by the courts for the defense.

Then the court was wrong. I'm not saying that anyone should go to jail, just that the court is wrong based on current law.

…try and point a finger at me. But fact is fact. The company I work for was doing the work legally and since there are no rules (laws) about interns looking at CP while being supervised by a trained, certified Computer Forensics analyst as it pertains to the case.

I haven't tried to point a finger at you. I have only tried to point out that you were being told wrong. No, there may not be any laws about an intern helping on a CP exam, but it has to be done at a government facility.

He had a court order.

I understand that, I just think that it was issued ignorant of the law.

Come to the defense of your "online friends" Mike, that's cool, it shows respect for them. I admire that.

They don't need my defense. I just agree with what they have said in this circumstance.

It's the accusations that got me steamed… But even being accused of something online can have serious repercussions, don' you think?

Sure it can, but I'm not sure anyone was "accusing" you of intentionally breaking the law, just urging caution.

Since my boss is a member now maybe he will chime in a few days.

That would be great. I would like to hear his opinion on the matter.

Also, since you mentioned EDITED BY POSTER on this. I would love to read his opinion on this matter. He is a respected contributor here.

Agreed. Let's proceed on that basis everyone, please.

You can, but Googling the quote will find the source in the first few hits 😉
