Hi All, I have been reading these forums for quite a while. This is a great resource for Forensic Analysts such as myself.

I have been instructed to crack the password of a Microsoft Word doc which I did with Acess Data PRTK6. This allowed me only to make edits to specific fields. I cannot edit the whole document. I then went to Tools -> Unprotect Document and used the same password I received from Access Data PRTK6 and it does not work.

How can I crack the second password to gain access to the whole document for editing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can also try passware, http//www.lostpassword.com/. They should have a demo version that might work, unless you want to buy it. PRTK should have cracked it all. Hmmm….

Editing MS Word Documents is a part of forensicc examination? -)

Anyway, with a Rainbow Table it shouldn't take long to crack it.

-) They would rather I crack the doc. So that they can have there way with it. Forensics/Hacking.

I just realized my license with Access Data is expired. Hmm I thought those dongles were perpetual licenses. Maybe thats why PRTK didnt give me all the passwords

Ok. Problem solved. I did not view the file property details. That listed the read password and the unprotect password as well. My apologies for the oversight. The initial view after cracking the password only shows the read password.
