Hello all, just wondering I am currently using device seizure 2.0 to acquire a LG VX8100 cellular phone. When I connect the phone everything goes smoothly it is recognized, but when I select LG CDMA and choose phonebook, SMS, and file system I get an error message saying error reading phonebook, or error reading SMS, and when I tried just the file system it ran for a little bit, and then disconnected and said one of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it. Has anyone ran into this problem if so do they have any solution tech support is still working on it. Thanks

Interesting….I had much the same experience with and LG VX9900 EnV. Mine was able to acquire the file system, but failed on SMS and phone book.

Sounds like there is a bigger LG problem than I thought.

I have an open tech ticket ….still waiting for an answer……

I have had a similar issue with some LGs as well as some other phones. A non-technical work around that I have had some success with is to close DS and reboot. Then connect the phone via a different USB port and run an acquisition for just one item, usually I go for the filesystem. If I want more than one item, I run a seperate acquisition for each item.

Also, have you tried BitPim? I have had good luck with bitpim on LG phones. Also the LG VX8100 is supported by Bitpim, including phonebook, wallpaper/camera, calendar, call history& SMS (according to Bitpim's website).

Hope this helps.

I have tried bitpim and did have luck except I was looking for deleted sms and was hoping device seizure would have a chance at getting them b/c bitpim did not. Ill try a different port and one at a time and see how that works out thanks.

This problem is being solved at the current moment. I'm sure that device seizure v. 2.1 won't have it )

Marina,

If what you say is true, don't you think it would be good for the company to communicate with its users who have open tickets?

I have to say, the entire Paraben experience is a frustrating one. Nice folks on the phone promise you the world……it just never happens.

If this was my first problem I'd be over-reacting, but it is one in a long series of issues……..it is tiring being a customer.

Who makes the Kit your currently Using, I have had some luck with other LG's using kits made by susteen in my own research and training. They also make programs like Data Pilot that can be used alongside bitpim. This may be also because its such a new phone and a patch has not been released yet….just waiting and hoping….
