ss,

Something like it, yes. SAMParse, for example, has worked on the SAM file in both the config directory, as well as the ones found in Restore Points. I've provided EXE copies of SAMParse to LEOs who've had to run it against the SAM files found in the Restore Points and have reported significant success.

As to specifically addressing the issue in the thread…no. That's one of the issues I ran into when putting the book together…I posted asking what folks wanted to see, and got little in the way of answers. Now that the book's been published, I'm getting questions like yours. ;-(

That aside, my hope is that the code listed in the book will prompt readers to either attempt to learn to program themselves, or ask (me) for assistance.

program myself….interesting you should say that.

I am finding that I need to learn to code.

Do you recommend perl for a newbie?

Sorry, but if you're looking around for the "best" programming language for a newbie, IMHO you're not ready to start programming on your own. When you are, you'll start with a language and go from there…if that doesn't work for you, you'll find one that does. In my experience (and I'm not saying anything bad about you personally) the more time someone sits back looking for someone to tell them the "best language for a newbie", the less likely they are to actually start programming.
