I am looking to buy a new compact digital camera that can take decent close up shots of evidence (SIM cards, media cards etc), grateful for any ideas on suitable models

I carry a Nikon Coolpix P5100. Relatively small, very powerful. The downside is that it does not shoot in RAW mode so I also have a D80 with all kinds of accessories.

Hi,
We have a lab full of different cameras used to photograph exhibits. The most impressive of them is a Sony DSC-N2 10 megapixel camera. Generally the various Nikons, Panasonics and Fujis are all good too and natural light is the biggest problem when taking pictures.
