Been using the Heilx, "Static Binaries" , "disk_stat" program in an attempt to detect HPA's on USB attached hard drives connected the IDE/ATA/SATA hardware adapter.
Booting into Helix and doing "disk_stat" , I can identify sector counts on all disk drives internal to the machine from which Helix was booted.
The problem is with running "disk_stat" on the USB attached disk drives via the hardware adapter. An error is returned = "IDENTIFY DEVICE failed"
Imaging the USB atached drives works without issue.
Could this be driver related?
Any ideas?

Did you read the man page?
From "man disk_stat"
disk_stat works only in Linux and does not support large disks. It will also not work on ATA disks connected with USB or Firewire.

😯 …apparently not thoroughly enough. Just skimmed it looking for command flags that may be needed.
Thanks for the heads-up….. oops
Looks like I'll be attaching them to the mobo tonite…. P
