Hi, do digital cameras write info to SD cards as system files/ log files? I’m looking for records that show when an SD card was inserted into the camera.

Some cameras might write some auxillary data in some directory, such as MISC, which varies per vendor. But the memory card insertion time? Well, if it is a first-time use, the DCIM folder will be created, and its attribute should contain camera's date and time information, which may be misset. But for each insertion (power-on)? Unlikely.

Search through the files on the memory card and you might find something, but like said, unlikely.

Few camera vendors might have an open-source firmware that might be modifiable to log such actions for debugging purposes, but I have never done that so far.
