I want to ask if anyone on here has any knowledge/experience of Dropbox ‘shared links’?

I understand what shared links are within the context of using Dropbox, but…

I have an IIOC case where the majority of the images are ‘thumbs’ within “userdata (ExtX)\Root\data\com.dropbox.android\global\sharedlinks\thumbs\…”.

I have used UFED for my physical extraction and can see, in the ‘Databases’ section, the shared links again, in the Dropbox ‘global.db’. However, the information in this table doesn’t seem to give me any ideas of how/when these ‘shared_links’ are created?

Are they only created when the user ‘shares’ a link via Dropbox, or do they also get created if the user ‘receives’ a link?

I’ve not been able to find any information on this or the global.db.

I thought I’d ask for any advice, before embarking on any ‘testing’, as not to reinvent the wheel, so to speak, if someone already has the knowledge?

Any help is most appreciated.

Hi,

Did you manage to get anywhere with working out if these are created when the files are shared by the user or shared with the user by someone else?

Cheers

Hi,

I´m also engaged with this case and cannot find any meaningful information.
Is anybody out there, who knows about this issue?

I found pictures in subfolders of

(ExtX)/Root/data/com.dropbox.android/global/sharedlinks/thumbs/sh

but nothing else.

Any hint is appreciated.

kr

Josef

Hi,

the folder ,shared links' are created after someone is shared a link. If you are a receiver of a file and open it via different ways, then the folder are created in databank.
