Hello All
I have just received a case that contains two SIM cards that appear to have two ICCID numbers. There are at least two ICCID's printed on each SIM card. Looking at the providers website (http//
So far I can only retrieve information relating to one of the ICCID's. I have tried reading the SIM with a variety of tools (XRY, USIM Detective, SIMCon) but all to no avail.
My question is this Has anybody encountered these '2in1' SIM cards before, and if so how did you analyse each 'partition'?
Thanks for you help
Graeme
My musings on the matter
On the website it looks like you access the functionality through a SIM Toolkit menu on the handset.
Kinda makes sense, a "SIM Card" is software running on hardware, the software is able to change the behavior of the card in a fundamental way. Looking at the website, you can only have one "line" active at once, makes sense as the handset can only deal with one "SIM Card" at once.
I'm going to dive into the standards and see what is possible and whether this is likely. I'm sure Greg will have some more useful insights on this matter though!
Graeme
I would be happy to offer observations subject to what info you can share. I haven't seen your particular SIMs before.
The idea of 2in1 isn't new. Orange and Vodafone have both tried this in the past (previously the marketing was work/leisure numbers or husband/wife numbers).
SIMs holding multiple IMSIs are not new either (Century and CenturyOne etc)
I am not sure what you meant by
"So far I can only retrieve information relating to one of the ICCID's. I have tried reading the SIM with a variety of tools (XRY, USIM Detective, SIMCon) but all to no avail."
What reader were you using then to retrieve one internal ICCID from the EF?
From what I have read so far it appears there is no partition to get over. Access to each module (thus relevant data set) appears to require placing the SIM into the handset issued with the SIM or at least one of those specified at
http//
To gain access to each module on the SIM (although I am really thinking what you may have is infact is a UICC (see ETSI ts_102 221) with multiple modules) you may need to go to handset menu -> network and see which networks are identified in the listing. The handset usually reveals the network services available by a naming convention; the name of a person or business etc (as opposed to Vodafone T-Mobile etc). Accessing the module will require selecting the named network in the handset list and then pressing the 'Green/Go/Answer' button on the handset. The handset/SIM will then register to the network and once that has happened it should reveal the content of the module you cannot acess at present.
I would like to have a chat with you first before you go forward with the above. As any STK on the SIM must still require the handset to reveal something in order for the user to simplistically select a network (thus module).
