Is there a free tool for viewing Offline Outlook data files (.OST)? I never imagined this would be such a hassle. All of the sites that I came across for free tools are eat up up crapware or worse. I thought Kali Linux has some tool included, but if so I can't find it or mention of it. Anyone had any success with this task? I know there are tools to convert an .ost to a .pst, but is there an easier way? I have some massive .ost files of several gb to review.

Supposedly for viewing, yes.
For saving or exporting no AFAIK.
Whether it will actually work and at least allow to view the contents is to be checked.

It is from the same guys (which I won't name) that substantially spam half of the internet under three or four different brands/through any number of sites.
They do sell a software for accessing and converting/saving .ost files and even attempt, sometimes succeeding for shorts periods, i.e. until the page is deleted to host the - of course closed source - Commercial software on Sourceforge and Codeplex.

There is however a Linux Library that can parse both PST and OST, by (BTW respected member here) Joachim Metz
http//code.google.com/p/libpff/

and a java spinoff (or something like it)
https://github.com/rjohnsondev/java-libpst

There is also another Linux Library
http//sourceforge.net/projects/ol2mbox/
https://alioth.debian.org/projects/libpst/
http//www.five-ten-sg.com/libpst/

I believe that all of them are still "experimental" or "work in progress", as such YMMGV.

I would convert the o********t and then go from there. Any reason why you need to keep it as an OST file?

Used this one occasionally for light work - http//www.nucleustechnologies.com/ost-viewer.html
