I'm wondering if there is a simple recovery tool which can be used from an usb without installation which works on command line.
I want to use it to recover a file which is always stored at a same place and always has the same extension. Its very small so it will probably overwrited very quick.
To be able to recover it I think it should be possible to make a scripted file (.bat) to recover that certain file just by running the script (i'm no expert at this so I may be entirely wrong)
Is there any program you know of which is pretty light and can recover files quickly/easy if you know for example the right location and name?
Try testDisk tool )
http//
I think test disk is only for partition recovery.

I think your right Ronan, I'm working with Photorec atm and figuring out how to make the bat work.
Thank you very much
Never install a file recovery program to the hard drive you are recovering from because you may write over the file you are trying to get back. You always remove the hard drive and analyze it as a D drive and then save your data to C which then allows you to put it on a CD. We use GetDataBack and have had good luck with it. The one exception to this rule is if you have data recovery software already installed on your PC before you have deleted the file.
