I just watched Hacking Democracy and wonder if anyone from this forum has been called on to check out election results?
There are lots of people who are referenced as computer security experts and discuss lots of issues that I would think are right up the alley of people on this forum.
We have had electronic voting around here for years and I cannot recall there ever being a challenge, let alone a challenge of the machines. I imagine that as they are challenged in other areas of the country they will eventually be challenged here.
One of the biggest issues I see in voter fraud is that so few states require paper receipts it would be difficult to have an audit trail to compare against. Perhaps it would be a comparison of the code against other machines to show that there was tampering or trending that was inconsistent with previous votes. For me, I love conspiracy theory so that type of thing is something I read with great zeal.
Pick up Hacking Democracy and see how in their words a person "hacked" the system in 10 seconds and also was able to modify the .exe on each stations removable data card to preform a + - to each official where the running totals matched the number of voters perfectly.
