That's a fairly vague question, more specifics would be useful. Out of interest, what's your background?

"Hack" covers many maladies.

First, what kind of E-Mail was "hacked"? Is this a corporate server, a POP/IMAP account at your ISP, a webmail account?

Or do you suspect someone is accessing the computer used to access the E-Mail?

So much more information is needed before making any kind suggestion.

itz a yahoo mail account. and the attacker use this mail for hiz(attacker) own works and delete all the sent items which he(attacker) sent. then my friend got a massage from his friend asking him about the mail which he was not sent to his friend.even the attacker handling that friends password time to time.

is there any recovery process for that ??

The first thing to do is to make sure you inform Yahoo of the breach. Secondly, have you changed the password to your Yahoo account to see if the problem clears?

What is the nature of the emails sent to your friend from the hacker, are they inappropriate or are they trying to trick him into thinking the sender is his friend?

This could be a social engineering trick, or the hacker could be using the account for his own needs. It could of course just be a virus / worm, some types of virus spread themselves through address books and send emails to everyone to further spread the virus.
