embedded images in MS Word - revisited

Hi

I recently asked a question regarding embedded files in a word doc.

I have a disk with multiple word docs and multiple image files in unallocated space.

I just need to clarify is there a pointer or some such within the word data to indicate if one of the images elsewhere on the disk is embedded in the word file. When i open the word file it reveals no images but i suspect there is/was some associated images within.
