Hi All,

over the weekend we imaged 21 computers for a client.

We have started with the analysis however. we restored 5 out of the 21 computers. the thing is that 3 of the restores refuese to boot into windows.

they start up fine then goes to the screen where u given the option to select safe mode….etc. when you select any of the option it restarts the machine and returns to the same screen.

Is there a work around this. without tampering with the evidence?

Help!!!!

Regards,
Nish

You will have to be a little more specific, are you using VMWare or are you putting the restored drives into some form of hardware?

If you have the restored drives and you aren't using VMware, have a crack at pointing Live view/VFC to the physical device its self. This will give you a much higher success rate as it will match the virtual hardware the best it can

Let me know how you get on

Steve

yes that is correct, we are placing the restored drive on a different computer hardware.

I have managed to solve the problem, it's the Disk controller that needs to be fixed.

i have managed to create an Ultimate boot CD from an application called (Ultimate Boot CD for Windows Version 3.50) you can download it from http//www.ubcd4win.com/downloads.htm.

Is similar to a Linux boot disk. i have not explored it to the full extent as yet.

Thanks for your post.

Nish
