Hi, does anyone know of/can recommend any distance learning/home study courses for Encase (preferably introductory level) available in the UK? I'm hoping that, in the lack of any relevant experience on my CV, at least showing some continued study may help me in my search for employment!
I've looked through the academic study database on here but suspect that the training I need now is more private sector.
Many thanks,
Dave

Greetings,

You can buy the EnCase Certified Examiner book and study that.

Guidance CF I and CF II are available in the On Demand (distance learning) format. - http//www.encaseondemand.com/

Even though I don't use EnCase in my lab I bought the book David refers to a while back and read a substantial portion of it. (I was traveling and wanted something to read.) It has a good level of detail and comes with an education version of EnCase on the CD that comes with. If you are an EnCase user, or want to build a skillset to get a job in an EnCase shop, it's a worthwhile addition to your library.

I agree with the Study Guide recommendation but there is a caveat. Apparently, some of the examples require EnCase 6 or a fully licensed version of EnCase and will not work with the demo version on the accompanying CD).

You can still learn what EnCase can do but in some instances you won't be able to see for yourself.

I was just about to post something along exactly those lines. I remember when I reviewed the book being impressed with the content but very disappointed with the functionality offered by the accompanying CD. Perhaps someone who's purchased a more recent copy can tell us if those issues have been addressed?

I called EnCase and received a demo version. Not sure if it's the one that comes with the book but it is fully functional with the two cases provided.
