yeah saw that on the guidance forums, a few complaints about that, I'm guessing v7 was rushed out, the beta testing didn't run for long enough, but them who would want to beta test a new application when they have work to do or businesses to run (I for one have wasted a good few days trying to get stuff done using 7), the processor side of things is just not a good feature, it should at least populate fields etc so you can work whilst you wait (like you were able to refresh in 6).

I have actually done a test myself of the imaging speeds of each format. Ex01 was exactly the same time as E01 when imaging a 1GB USB drive. There are a lot of things that are buggy with the new EnCase, but to give them credit, the new mobile phone acquisition features and the reporting functions are very well done.

had a go at taking an image of my HTC desire, didn't seem to want to do it, kept getting the same error message, again something I will play with at a later date, I do like the idea that I can image phones quickly though! )

My understanding was that the ex01 format was not backward compatable, but E01 was supported by v7. Is this not the case, or are you saying that E01 differs between v6 and v7?

Also, for some reason, imaging using the new Ex01 format is actually slower than the older E01 format. I find it strange how none of these 'bugs' were discovered during the beta.

If you are using compression, that isn't a bug - it's called using better compression.
