Is the device you are using jailbroken or not? It is possible that the location is not accessible through a logical acquisition if the device is not jailbroken already.

As far as I know, the device was not jailbroken, and purportedly never synched. I don't think the jailbreak status was verified prior to acquisition; verifying synchronization status wasn't even on the table at that point. So of course once we are no longer in possession, then the questions roll in… wink

Interesting that a logical acquisition may not capture what it otherwise could if the phone's not jailbroken. I'll have to check with the Katana folks to see how Lantern addresses that.

According to the folks who made Lantern, there is virtually no way to tell from the iPhone itself if it was ever synched. However, if purchased from Apple, it has to be synched (somewhere) to be activated. They also noted that firmware updates would require synchronization.

Sounds like paring records are used for passcode-locked devices in conjunction with the synched computer.
