Hi all,

A have a few questions related to an AT&T SIM card.

Scenario I need to extract data from an Pantech P2030. I originally received the phone from the client without the SIM card. I believe that she purchased a new phone and placed the old SIM in it. I now believe that I have the SIM card that was previously in the Pantech. When I attempt to extract the data with my UFED, the phone SOS alerts the following "Invalid Card - An incorrect SIM is being used. Only emergency Calls can be dialed."

1. Does putting a SIM from an old phone into a new, make it invalid when putting it back into the old phone?

2. Is there a work-around to extract the data from the Pantech either with this SIM, a new SIM, or without?

3. Any other information that you can provide related to the SIM and the Pantech would be appreciated.

Thanks for the time.

Can you post or pm the following

1 - The SSN or ICCID (where SSN has been shortened)
2 - The SIM Card ATR
3 - Confirm the CHV is not blocked

1 - SN 113400358824

2 - 89014104255930010343 (this is the only string of #s on the SIM)

3 - how do I confirm this?

Thanks for your help.

Hi olifer

1) OK, well the the SIM Serial Number SSN (at 1 in your post) on the face of it suggests the external number on the card doesn't match the Integrated Circuit Card IDentidy ICCID your program tool read (at 2 in your post) from the SIM when performing a direct SIM card read.

Are you reading the ICCID whilst the SIM card is still inserted into the handset and your program is reading the SIM card via the handset?

2) A SIM card read is required to read the ATR (answer to reset) first and prior to any CHV (PIN) being read and you haven't recorded the ATR at all. The program tools you are using should have recorded this information.

3) I was hoping you would confirm to me whether the SIM card - any CHV1 (PIN1) or CHV2 (PIN2) - was enabled and required entering CHV to read SIM Card elementary files (EF). The program tools you are using should have told this information. The purpose being I am checking to see alternatives for your Invalid SIM message which is possibly answered here - http//www.att.com/media/att/2014/support/pdf/ATTMobilityDeviceUnlockCodeInstructions.pdf

I appreciate the time you took to respond to my issues. I ended up cloning the SIM card and I was able to extract the phone data.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
