I would like to inquire about FastBloc and Tableau, which one is better?

I heard that Guidance Software has acquired the assets of Tableau, and now they dont sell FastBloc anymore.

Do you guys know why? Thank you.

This is a press release for what occurred.

I have a soft spot for my FastBloc since I've had it for ages and it's served me well in the past. I haven't used it all that much during recent years because it's an IDE unit and most what I run across these days are SATA, etc.

Also in recent years, I've also become very fond of the Tableau line of hardware and software. I get very good reliability and performance for a very good price out of their product line. I also like the fact that they release frequent firmware updates and that those updates are very easy to implement.

I have at least one stand alone write blocker that I no longer use because I bricked it while going through it's Byzantine firmware upgrading process. It was grossly overpriced to begin with and I didn't want to spend more money getting it repaired when I could just use my Tableau goodies do to the same work.

I am a Tableau and really like the supported software. Hopefully Guidance will keep up with the development. I use the T35es bridges mostly with the TIM software.

Depends as well as what types of collections you will be doing and where. So there really is not a "best" - the tool is defined by it;s place in the kit on its usefulness of a given situation. If you are not going to triage drives and just need quick drive to drive/images then you may want to consider a hand held duplicator as well. What are the types of investigations you will be performing?

Also take the time to look at the tool validation and testing section of the NIST web site. http//www.cftt.nist.gov/ You will find links to the NIJ testing papers. They don't have all the latest ones on there however.

What's it like being a Tableau Douglas?
