These aren't open source tools, but this seemed the most appropriate place to post about free tools.

I have developed two tools for analysing the history generated by Firefox 3 and Google Chrome.

FoxAnalysis - http//forensic-software.co.uk/foxanalysis.aspx

ChromeAnalysis - http//forensic-software.co.uk/chromeanalysis.aspx

Both tools are capabale of extracting data regarding bookmarks, cookies, downloads, search terms, website history etc. Both tools can

* Filter by multiple keywords
* Filter by date range
* Filter by visit type
* Filter by download status
* Filter by selection
* Convert UTC timestamps to any time zone (apply custom daylight saving settings)
* Save and load case files
* Export activity report to HTML or CSV (Excel) files

These tools have been developed together by a software developer and forensic analyst. FoxAnalysis has been revised in response to user feedback on cases worked on and ChromeAnalysis has recently been released.

We hope these tools are of use to people. Feedback through the website is much appreciated.

These are great tools.. and I've used both with success.
I'm trying to find an easy way to looky look at the places.sqlite-journal files in a similar fashion.. at a quick glance the file doesn't actually conform to a sqlite format that I can tell.. however it has much of the same data within it.. (not same as in identical but same as in urls etc.)

any ideas?

@forensic-software
I just had a quick glance at FoxAnalysis and must say it makes a good impression but why is an installer necessary? It's portable, right?

@Warlock

The only info we could find on the journal files is here,

http//sqlite.org/tempfiles.html

@a_kuiper

An installer isn't strictly necessary currently, although it allows us to more easily install start menu shortcuts, registry keys, manage multiple versions of the software etc.

What happened to good old fashioned (and I might add working) configuration files?

I think most of us FIs, like things when they work, and the least things they touch. D

Nice tools, and thank you for sharing!
