in summary, if you laptop supports Firewire (or you laptop support PCMCIA/Cardbus/ExpressCard) is possible to conduct a live memory dump.

I am using a solution called Lumension that blocks unauthorised binaries but I cannot understand why this is not blocking the Firewire drivers from loading.

Therefore, I need to understand
1 - what is the solution?
2 - if there is none, what is intrinsic about the Windows Kernel design such that that OS cannot prevent this from happening when the Linux kernel can…
