Our organization is looking to build a tiered approach towards classifying a forensic analyst. What we would like to do is build a hierarchical approach to determining an analysts level of knowledge, aptitude and proficiency. In a nut shell; If we looked at a 5 tiered system (Analyst 1 through 5 - 1 being new and 5 being certified and experienced or expert level); what training and or certifications would people recommend for this approach? I believe we should also include experience as a determining factor for evaluating a persons potential for step advancement.

On a second note; is anybody using a mandated revisit to the core principals of forensics - basic courses that get to the root of drive geometry, binary, hex, file system architecture etc? If so, how often? wink
