in the recent case of Julie Amero it seems clear to me that the opinon and techniques used by the 'expert witness' should have been challenged under the daubert test. according to this test, the science behind expert testimony is unacceptable unless the technique used is generally accepted as reliable in the relevant scientific community. Now I'm wondering, how has expert testimony in computer forensics fared under the daubert test - if it has even really been tested at all?

In my experience it has been tested rigorously. Mostly by attorney’s not terribly familiar with computer forensics. Appropriately enough I’m seeing them asking the same general questions about an expert’s qualifications as they would any forensic expert.
