I am in the private sector and own security for a large organization (~30,000 people). Every year or so we have to hire a new forensics person to replace someone who has left. As a general rule we pay well but there seem to be others who will pay more. It is my experience, and from my research, that in the US the salaries go from lows of 50K to highs of 150k. It also appears that in Europe, the UK especially, the salaries are much less at the low end. I am interested to know what others are seeing in the industry. Both government and private sector responses would be appreciated.

I've checked forensic vacancies in the US for a last year. In the US, the salaries go from lows of 80K. If your company pays 50K, may be it is a reason why a forensics person left. wink
Igor,
I agree with you that 50K seems a bit low, but using GlassDoor and some of the posts I have seen from the law enforcement community that does seem to be in the range for starting salaries for junior folks. 80k also seems a bit low for a seasoned forensicator. Thus the question I have put out to the group.

Also a big factor is where you live. Outside of non-major cities like NYC, Boston, London, etc… there is a decent range in pay gaps.
As said before, Glassdoor will be a good start, but (from my own example) 50k in Georgia != 50k in NYC.

Jaclaz,
Is an interesting thread, thank you for pointing it out to me. The thread is now a few years old and much of the salary discussion was theoretical verses person X saying in industry Y we pay salary N. But was interesting none the less.
