I am providing these tools for free as I wish to give back to the Forensic Community for all the helpful advice. These tools are free and availible for download from my site Free Section of Xabersoft.com

Xabersoft Imager Free
Interface for DDFLCDD a powerful Imaging utility without limitations (if there are let me know so I can remove them)

USB Write Blocker
Works only on Windows XP with SP2 and newer

MD5 Hashing Utility
Many Free MD5 hashing utilites do not work on windows vista as they are 16-bit apps This one will work.

Thank you I hope these tools are of some use.
(also I know my site needs work im currently working on it)

Ryan Manley

The reason this post is not in the commercial Software Forum is these programs are bieng provided free of charge.

No problem at all, I seek the help of the community sometimes during my research. I will be continually offering up free tools I create along the way. To help the community.

The write blocker works by flipping a bit in the registry to have the OS write protect the next usb media. This is a feature of XP sp2 and up. What I would do is use a hardware write blocker to acquire the original image, and use Software write blockers to work off the copy of the original just to be safe.

I have not encounterd any problems with the USB writeblocker, its a part of windows so who knows if it could fail….. ?

But I do provide it as a option to protect the drive. As the OS write protects the drive I would think its ok but then again this is windows we are talking about, with 90000x ways to write to a drive even when idle.
