Hi All,

I had exported some emails using an indexing tool Nuix in a native format (.msg) and took a logical image (ad1) of the exported data using FTK Imager. When I try to export these files (using FTK imager from the ad1 image), I'm getting long file path error and the files are not getting exported or rather in some cases few files with a very long subject line are not getting exported.

I have tried to export the same data on root of a drive in a small folder something like "X\1\"
but still no success. The reason to export them in a folder is that I can zip the files after a successful export.

Since now I only have the images, any suggestions or inputs to avoid scenario will be very helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Something you could do is mount the ad1 in FTKi and use robocopy (or any tool that handles long file paths) copy the files from the mounted volume to the folder you want. That fixes the exporting problem.

You may still have problems zipping it up, and the client will probably have issues exporting it out of zip file on there end and their system will probably not like the long file paths either.

Your best bet is likely to provide a different type of export from Nuix, maybe a html report? Or a PST export if it's just email?

Good luck!

Thanks a lot for your inputs.

Currently trying to mount the ad1 image in FTK but the drive is not visible in windows explorer (My Computer). Any suggestions to tackle this one?

You can export the .msg files named after a unique identified without the original path, and then provide a corresponding report with any relevant metadata such as the original path.
