I was just called in reference to a theft which took place on Christmas between 1000 am and 1200 PM. The victim in this case is a Pastor of a local Church. It's easy to see that, more than likely, the offender knows the victims position in the community and what his schedule would have been that day.
I was told that they got hit for a large sum and that one of the items stolen was a Mac Laptop with a GPS locator installed on it. I don't know what kind of Mac computer, I don't know anything about what type of GPS locator they are talking about and I don't know that much about Mac's in general.
I spoke to the victim a few minutes ago. She is somewhat older and not tech savvy by any means. All she could tell me is that Apple was sending her husband a different activation code to his email.
I am familiar with Lojack for lap tops, but is this program available for Mac's as well as Windows based machines? Is there any type of factory installed GPS placed in Mac's by Apple? I would assume you would have to pay a monthly fee to keep it activated? Any chance it would return coordinates if the computer was off.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
There is tracking software called "Hidden" that can be installed on Macbooks. It apparently also takes screenshots using the built in camera… I've not used this software though (just did a little google searching)

There's also Prey for the Mac - http//preyproject.com/ (freeware) but more importantly, Lion has FindmyMac (like the iPhone/iPad) as part of iCloud now.
