Hi,

I am new to this forum. I graduated last year with a degree in computer forensics and I have been trying to find a job doing mobile phone forensics since. I just wondered if anybody knew of any extra training that I could do to enhance my CV. I have found one website regarding XRY http//www.msab.com/training/courses/courses/page.php. Would this be worth while?

Thank You.

Ben,

Having read both of these posts I can see that the suggestions made are merely software familiarisation certifications. This will be useful dont get me wrong however you may find that there is more merit in something which is based around the specialism rather than the tools used within the specialism.

Have a look here

http//www.controlf.net/training/

Think of it like this, XRY and CelleBrite training will be like learning to ride a bike, which of course is an important skill. The training I have linked to above will teach you how the parts work and how to wear a helmet so when you fall off you don't get hurt!

I couldn't agree more with Colin. Kevin Mansell from ControlF is an excellent trainer.

P.S. I have absolutely no affiliation with ControlF or Kevin. I've simply been a punter on a couple of his courses.

Hi,

Thank you all for your advice. I have looked into http//www.controlf.net/training/fmpf/ and this does seem like a good idea to get to grips with the basics of mobile forensics. Currently the only stumbling block is that the course is just short of £2,000 which after graduating maybe difficult to find. Is there any good books or websites that you recommend that I could use for private study while I find the funds. I want to get into mobile forensics, im just struggling to find a company that will take me on.

Thank you again

Ben Bath

Hi,

Mobile phone forensics is the area that I am most interested in but I would be happy doing computer forensics. I spent more time at Uni with computer forensics working with FTK imager, FTK 1.81 and PRTK, so I have had more experience with computer forensics. Im just trying to get into a job within this subject area.

Thanks
Ben

For entry level and some advance training, use Mobile Forensics Inc. (Accessdata) and for more advance options, Teel Tech Training. Search; H11; Sans Forensics; BK Forensics e-evidence dot org; google "wiki computer forensics confenence" or "wiki computer forensics training" for other options, just to get the ball rolling for you….MPSC and MFCE certifications are a great add on to your signature as well (-
