Hi,

I'm undergraduate student at Turkish National Police Academy. I am currently working on computer forensic and I have to find graduation thesis.

Have you any suggestions?

Thanks…

I think looking into social networks and the artefacts they leave on systems would be interesting.
Theres a lot of work being done by Magnet (formerly Jad Forensics).
This really only covers whether something exists, but not logon, logoff times, or mobile devices

Windows 8 is out soon. The is a significant amount of research topics that would benefit the community. I would like to know more about the artifacts created by the new Windows 8 interface. Or, you can create two types of accounts. One with a windows live link and an account that is not linked to windows live. What is the forensic significance of each?

Good luck!

I have an eval copy of Windows 8. It's very similar to Windows 7 in core functions (registry, file system, etc). The user interface is geared toward a mobile device (touch screen). That UI works on devices that aren't touch screen too. Relationship between Microsoft Live and the user accounts adds a dynamic that we need to completely understand.

I am sure the usual A listers are busy compiling updates to various books and blogs on Windows 8 (I am looking forward to those ), however, there is more than enough material there for a graduate thesis.
