bmaree, no one here knows who you are or what your project is - you haven't told us (not in this thread anyway). Harry's reply was simply a light rap across the knuckles, it's inappropriate under the circumstances to call it "offensive" - by anyone's standards. We all need to take constructive criticism at times, even if it feels unfair.

If the above doesn't strike a chord with you, there are probably other forums where you would feel more comfortable.

Bmaree, its a very valid question and one with a developing future with regards to profesionalism.

My knowlegde on this, as guidelines for Computer Forensics, is

UK - ACPO (thanks to kiashi for the link)
http//www.7safe.com/electronic_evidence/ACPO_guidelines_computer_evidence_v4_web.pdf

US - IOCE and SWDGE
http//www.ioce.org/core.php?ID=17
http//www.swgde.org/documents.html

Individuals and organisations will and should at the bare minimum adopt some of these guidelines, if not improving on them. The quoted guidelines, some of which could be described as good practice, some as vaige, some as out of date and some not covered.

I would be interested to know what standards / procedures / guidelines Forensic Firms adpot / adhere to when based in other Countries outside the UK and US. Also for firms inside UK/US that refer to other standards than ACPO or IOCE/SWDGE.

@Beetle - which US guidelines are you refering to excatly ?

Thanks,
J.
