I have a sony handycam camcorder- model # dcr-sr42. The camera no longer works. Does anybody know if I can remove the hard drive and get video off of it? Let me know any information you may have about this. Thanks.

I'd be pretty sure you can. It's either going to be in MPEG-2 format .MPG files or maybe even MPEG-4 .MTS files (AVCHD). I would imagine it would as easy as breaking it open and getting the drive out and hooked up to either an external enclosure or write blocker of some sorts.
I have absolutely no idea though as I haven't done it before and am going strictly off my own Sony Camcorder that records .MTS files on its HDD.
