I am in the process of researching hardware hard drive wipers to be integrated into our forensic lab. We currently use EnCase to wipe hard drives and we were looking for other alternatives.

Can anyone offer suggestions as to what hardware products they are using to wipe hard drives? We are considering the DriveWiper from Voom Technologies and the Image Maaster Solo III (we could use this for imaging as well).

Feedback would be appreciated!

I use a disc jockey. It's cheaper than the drivewiper and it gets the job done. Outside of that, I just use an old system with added PCI controllers, CRU dataport mobile trays and DBAN to wipe disks.

I use the Hardcopy II from Voom Technologies. It can wipe drives, image drives, do MD5 hashes, and format drives. Have had great results with it plus it's an easy product to learn to use.

Another vote for Hardcopy II. Works like a charm.

We use the Wipemasster. Works very well, and great as you can do 10 drives at once!

I am using Wipemasster from ISC (wipes 9 drives simultaneously) and Solo III Forensics. Works fine )

We use the SOLO-3 Forensics to wipe our drives. Works perfectly.

If it's busy, we use WipeDrive (came with FTK) or DBAN.

I wonder what people use to wipe drives with surface defects, before sending it to warranty…
