Hey guys. I have been lurking, but not posting so much in recent months.
Might anybody know where I could go to find Hash Tab, an MD5 calculator? I tried a few times between yesterday and today. But, every place that I have found is….dodgy. In once case, I had to spend a half hour uninstalling junk programs that ended up getting downloaded and I still did not have Hash Tab.
Or, alternatively, does anyone know of any (free) MD5 calculators. (I will be searching YouTube for tutorials in the next day or so.)
http//md5deep.sourceforge.net/
hashcalc?
You just want something you can dump a file into and have it calculate a hash right?
If yes then Hashcalc is very easy and fast supports bulk types of hash and very easy to find.

Is that the one that installs as a property tab? Last time I saw it it was at http// beeblebrox . org, but it seems to
have been moved to http// implbits . com /HashTab.aspx
Thanks guys.
Just as a warning, the implbits page seems to be booby trapped with all kinds of other stuff. I tried to use them the other day, and regretted it.

Explain how it is "booby trapped"
A computer forensic practitioner should be able to articulate themselves to the layman as well as the other experts.
Thanks guys.

Admittedly, I was tired when I tried to get HashTab the first time.
But, I somehow ended up with all kinds of time-waster programs that were likely carrying malware. (These were game apps and the like.)

Just updated my HashTabs … you have to be careful about what download button you press, that's all. No boobytrapping elsewhere as far as I have found – not even a default install selection of some weird software that had to be disabled.
Yeah. It was fatigue that doomed me. (I hit the wrong download option, which was more apparent than the correct download option.)
