I just noticed an announcement for Helix3Pro reportedly due out in April 2009.

https://www.e-fense.com/Docs/Helix3Pro.pdf

Has anyone heard anything regarding details the enhancements of this new "evolution"?

I hope the product quality control is better than the marketing slick.

And I smiled when I read the tiny disclaimer "Some items not available in initial release." )

Cheers!

Big Changes seem to be coming down the line for Helix3 - I got this email today.

Dear Helix3 Forum Member,

It’s been about a month now since the new CEO of e-fense had requested you
to help keep Helix3 alive by donating. Keeping ‘you’ the users of the
Helix3 software, involved with the decision to grow our software company
globally was particularly important to the entire e-fense team.

As the original team of e-fense and the new comers of the management team,
we have evolved into a stronger company of minds and have moved into a
melded knowledge of how we will perform together to make us exceptional.

Helix3 donations fell far short of our projection. As such, effective
February 2, 2009, e-fense is changing the manner in which we provide this
tool. We are delighted to introduce and make available, the new Helix3
Membership.

e-fense will begin with an early membership discount; if you sign up before
April 2009 you will receive your Helix3 Membership for only $14.95 a month
or $179 a year.

After April 2009 the membership price will increase to $19.95 a month or
$239 a year.

The Helix3 membership will include

• Access to our Members Only Forum. Helix3 experts will be online during
business hours to address your questions. We also have an exciting Helix3
Forum Reward Program to show appreciation to your fellow members for their
helpful answers.
• The complete Helix3 Manual available to download at any time
• Your monthly membership fee also provides you credit towards future
purchases of software and training.
• Access to monthly white papers written by industry experts to provide you
with best practices and educational information.
• Access to e-fense quarterly webinars providing you with live forensic and
e-discovery methods.
• Be the first to get Helix3 Pro! Helix3 members will get the first
release of Helix3 Pro expected to be released April 2009!

As Helix3 evolves into Helix3 Pro in April 2009, you can count on our
development team to maintain, update, test and support this valuable tool.

Members have access to all future releases and support through the forum.

The Helix3 Live CD is also available through our online store. However,
membership will be required to receive support. The current Helix3 Forum
will close on February 2nd, 2009.

Hmmmm…Maybe Jamie should create a new forum category for Helix-specific questions?

Hi Jonathan,

It's much easier to say what they have in common - and that is both are bootable Linux CDs. (Oh, and apparently coming soon this year both are commercial products.)

The differences are key and vast. That information is available over at www.forensicbootcd.com , and you can e-mail me there with specific questions and I'll try to do what I can to assist you.

Cheers!

Thanks farmerdude. I guess what I'm looking for (as an independent who needs to carefully watch what he buys) are reasons why should I buy your tool over Helix. Or can they be seen as complementary?

Hi Jonathan,

Ping me over at www.forensicbootcd.com and check out the info there

http//www.forensicbootcd.com/con/comp.html

I don't see them as complementary, they are very different animals. Again, ping me direct and I'll answer your questions.

Cheers!

Farmerdude, if I were to lower myself a huge amount, I would answer your sniping comments.

I am surprised at you. Very surprised. Are you the same guy I met years ago???
