Something light and open source with options to
1. Customise Templates to Enter Case Number, Examiner etc
2. Inter notes that are automatically time stamped
3. Ability to password protect the content of the notes
4. Ability to insert pictures
5. Spell check
6. Automatic notes/file saving

Basically grub4dos latest releases can map virtually a .iso to a hd like device, thus allowing to have a USB stick (or other HD like device) a number of .iso images and choose at boot time which one to boot.

The Linux based .iso needs generally to be "prepared" for this use, but the changes should not affect it's "normal" use as CD.

PartedMagic is one of the first Linux distro's that supports this approach

Cannot say if this can be done with CAINE, or if it can be done easily, but it's a possibility you might want to consider.

Having the .iso bootable as-is from a USB stick would be a nice feature, as I see it.

Regarding Helix3 pro and it's features disclosure.

Maybe I've missed some press releases, and/or youtube videos that outline the Helix3 Pro in more detail. But I'm not finding where much was released about what the new version 3 Pro actually consists of.

It would have been nice to at least have

1. some screenshots listed somewhere on the e-fense website,

2. a basic features list of the utility names making up this release.

3. a camtasia style presentation, with someone giving a 5 or 10 minute video tour of the product. So that "prospective members" of the new helix3 pro forum could see what the new product offered.

4. some type of chart or checklist, with the Pro version's "features/functionality " could have been mentioned on the e-fense website.

While $14.95/month may not be as high as other commercial offerings,
anyone looking to become a member is investing $179 for a new product
that is unseen.

I would think it will be a decent suite of utilities, given the history of Helix.

Just seems strange that no one stressed the features/benefits of the new Pro version , vs the older, free version.

One of the main selling points I've heard is that it was written from scratch. Unfortunately, for me this is a negative rather than a positive. Helix 3 (normal) had a long track record behind it and was in wide use. Helix 3 Pro needs to start from the beginning, correct bugs quickly, demonstrate advantages over other products, and gain market share. It'll be a tough road….

Best I can ascertain, this is an anti-forensics detection application.

One google hit I got showed it used to detect wiping programs like
-window washer
-evidence eliminator
- and some less known wiping tools.

I googled and such, but the most I found on Apero LE was at the website http//www.cert.org/forensics/.

And their only mention was
Aperio detects operational signatures left by commercial counter-forensic software and can guide the search for latent data that remains

I also found a pdf at [http//001d3e6.netsolhost.com/dfblog/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/antiforensics.pdf] that is dated 2007 and says Aperio is an LE product, only available from Cert.org.

Without an LE login for the cert.org website, I couldn't find any further details on aperio LE.
